How Much Does Car Detailing Cost in Utah? (2026 Guide)

Real 2026 prices for car detailing along the Wasatch Front — what interior, exterior and full details cost, why quotes climb, and what a fair flat rate looks like.

The short answer

  • A full interior-and-exterior detail along the Wasatch Front typically runs $180–$350 for a standard vehicle.
  • Interior-only details run $90–$180; ceramic coatings are a different product entirely at $800–$2,000+.
  • Most quotes are a base rate — pet hair, "excessive soiling" and truck/SUV surcharges get added after the detailer sees the car.
  • We charge a flat $249 for the complete detail, cars, trucks and SUVs alike, everywhere from Ogden to Spanish Fork.

What detailing actually costs along the Wasatch Front

Prices below are what you'll realistically be quoted in 2026 between Ogden and Spanish Fork. Salt Lake City and Silicon Slopes tend to sit at the top of each range; smaller towns at the bottom.

Service Typical price What you get
Express tunnel wash $10–$25 Two minutes of machine wash. Fine for knocking grime off between details.
Hand wash & dry $40–$80 A careful exterior wash, nothing corrected, nothing sealed.
Interior-only detail $90–$180 Vacuum, wipe-down, carpet shampoo. Depth varies wildly — ask what's included.
Exterior-only detail $100–$200 Decontamination, sometimes clay, sometimes a sealant. Read the fine print.
Full detail, inside & out $180–$350 The whole car, restored. This is the number most people mean by "a detail."
Paint correction $400–$1,500 Multi-stage machine polishing to remove deeper defects. A specialist job.
Ceramic coating $800–$2,000+ Correction plus a long-term coating. Worth it for some cars, overkill for most.

If a "full detail" quote comes in under $150, something on that list above is being skipped — usually the clay treatment, the machine polish, or an hour of the labor. Our guide to what a full detail should include has the complete checklist.

Why two quotes for "a detail" can be $150 apart

Detailing is priced on time, and four things decide how long your car takes:

  • Size. A third-row SUV has roughly twice the carpet and glass of a sedan. Many shops charge $50–$100 more for trucks and large SUVs.
  • Condition. A car that gets a yearly detail cleans up in three hours. A daily driver with two winters of mag chloride on it can take five.
  • Pet hair. The most common surcharge in the industry, usually $25–$75, because it genuinely takes an extra hour done properly.
  • Extras sold on site. Engine bay, headlight restoration, odor treatment — legitimate services, but often quoted only after the crew is standing in your driveway.

The add-on trap

The advertised price and the final price are often different numbers. A "$149 special" that becomes $260 after the size surcharge, the pet-hair fee and the "heavy soil" fee isn't a special — it's a quote that started dishonest.

Before you book anyone, ask three questions:

  1. Is that the total price for my specific vehicle, seen or unseen?
  2. What on the menu is not included at that price?
  3. Does pet hair, sap or heavy soiling change the number?

A detailer with nothing to hide answers all three in one text message.

What you're actually paying for

A real full detail is three to five hours of skilled labor: a two-bucket hand wash, iron remover and clay to pull embedded fallout out of the paint, a machine polish to knock down light swirls, a sealant, then the entire cabin — vacuumed to the seat rails, carpets hot-extracted, leather conditioned, glass finished streak-free. Supplies alone run $25–$40 per car done right.

That's why the honest range for a full detail starts around $180. Below that, you're not buying less polish — you're buying fewer steps.
